Ultimate Tag Warrior Bugfix Release

September 16th, 2007

Item the first: If you’re getting 404 errors on your tag pages, try going to the Options > Permalinks page in wp-admin, and click the Update Permalinks button.

Item the second: There’s a bugfix release of UTW. Download Here! It should deal with the problem that contact form plugin thingy people were having – go to the Options > Tags page, and resave your options; then all should be good in the world.

Item the third: I’m looking for beta testers for taggish plugins I’m putting together for Wordpress 2.3. If you’d like to beta test, and are using Wordpress 2.3, send an email to beta [at] neato [dot] co [dot] nz.

Fabulous.

[...] I upgraded my blog to Wordpress 2.3 beta3 today. Then upgraded to the latest Ultimate Tag Warrior. The upgrade went smooth and although I later chose to import the Ultimate Tag Warrior tags into the ‘new’ Wordpress system, it allowed me to go back simply by re-enabling UTW. Phew. The new system doesn’t yet have the same functionality out of the box, which made me a bit sad. In the near future I hope to see more plugins which take advantage of the Wordpress tag system so I can retire UTW. There needs to be support for bbcode [ tag | tags ] , [/ tag | tags ], which I’ve used in all my posts for the last year or so. [...]

Hey thanks so much for the amazing plugin! I use it on my own blog of course, but also I’ve been testing it for Wordpress MU and it’s rocking and rolling so far on that as well!

[...] [Update from 2007-09-18] I just found out that Christine announced the end of UTW on June 30th, already. There has been an update to the final version, though, which includes some bug fixes and can be downloaded from the official download site shown above (also, read this post). [...]

[...] So what happens to UTW now? Is it rendered useless by 2.3’s new taxonomy schema? Well, you can import your UTW tags, along with other tagging plugins, with WordPress 2.3 and use it as tags in your posts. I checked mine and it was a breeze importing the tags. But I don’t have a list of tags to use upon writing a post. I do, however, show in my Write Post page a box to type in the tags I want to use. Problem is, I don’t know what my tags are. Now that is something to think about. And is Christine just going to let things happen without her doing nothing? Of course not. I volunteered to be one of her beta testers. I, too, am not just going to sit around and wait for something to happen. UTW is something my current theme, and for that matter, my blog, can not do without. [...]

    Item the first works perfectly.
Item the second isn’t really much of a concern of mine. I don’t have that contact form plugin anyway.
Item the third is something I look forward to, being one of your beta testers. Besides, my test blog hasn’t been a guinea pig for a long time now.

Thanks for this great plugin. :D

    Christine,

I wanted to ask for a while. I have the UTW 3.14… version. Some tags will not work at all, specifically due to it renaming them. For instance, I want a tag called 9/11 , but I have to do 9-11. It simply won’t do 9/11. I tried all sorts of tricks but nothing solved it.

[...] With 2.3 there where many infrastructure changes. For a complete list, see the Release Announcement. The most extensions breaking change was the implementation of native tag support. Referencing to Not working Plugin List Ultimate Tag Warrior and Extended Live Archives are problematic. Both caused troubles on update, but there is a fix for ELA and one for UTW. By reviewing the informations for writing this articel, I noticed that I’m running fine with the Ultimate Tag Warrior Bugfix Release provided by Christine from the Internet. My theme K2 was needing also an update, which caused the style to be broken. So waiting for a fix did take little longer, but when reviewing the it, I noticed that only a css class name did need an update. This all teaches me, when using a project with much depencies, it will be a mess when updating, as long as isn’t all provided by one source. It’s some kind of using a project “still in development”.
